Coffee, Connection, and Calmness - The Three C's
•Posted on December 12 2024
The three C’s that bring me peace, but let’s be honest—I have two young, thriving daughters. That 4th C—Chaos—creeps in more often than I’d like to admit.
Living in the northern part of the country, winter storms are just part of the deal. You can either embrace the beauty of it or hibernate for four months. Like it or not, snow is coming.
Today, we had our first “real” snowfall. And true to form, chaos set in as I scrambled to get the girls out the door in time to trek through the unplowed roads to the bus stop. All the while, the most beautiful snowflakes were falling... right into my coffee.
If you know me, you know I refuse to use a travel mug—it just doesn’t hit the same.
We ran to the bus stop (of course, we were behind schedule), but the roads were still heavy with snow, and the bus was 25 minutes late. Thankfully, we were bundled up.
Here’s the problem: I only have 20 minutes between getting my oldest on the bus and leaving to take my youngest to preschool. The pressure of chaos was real.
I finally got my youngest in the car and managed to make it just in time for drop-off—without needing to visit the office. (Whew!) Turns out, everyone else was running behind too.
On the way home, sipping my now-cold coffee, I noticed the sun breaking through, casting a shimmering glow on the fresh snow. For a moment, it stopped me in my tracks.
I thought of the three C’s: Coffee, Calmness, and Connection.
I took a deep breath and whispered, “Ok, Mother Nature, I see you.” Thank you for the reminder to recenter.
In the midst of chaos, I hope you find moments to pause, to connect with what brings you joy, and—most importantly—to always have a good cup of coffee.
Cheers,
Michelle
