Queen of Cups: Does Your Coffee Cup Reflect Your Mood?

Are you like me, where the coffee cup you choose dictates the mood and energy you’re putting out for the day? Do you open your coffee cup cupboard to a delightful array of shapes and sizes, each holding memories of a last vacation, a beloved grandparent, or that pure white cup that symbolizes a fresh start and a day full of opportunities?

I’m Michelle, the founder of Serenity Roast, and I have an undeniable addiction to coffee cups. My husband even calls me the "Queen of Cups." For me, the choice of cup is just as important as selecting the right roast for the day. Whether I’m in the mood for a citrusy light roast or a rich, robust dark roast, my coffee cup will always complement the flavor profile of my brew.

Today, I’ve chosen my Tampa mug. I spent a significant part of my adult life living in Tampa, Florida, where I met my husband and welcomed my two beautiful daughters amidst the palm trees, the Gulf of Mexico, and the sunny skies. As Hurricane Milton approaches, my heart aches for such a beautiful and significant piece of my life. Today, I choose to remember the community and love I have for this special place that feels like home. It’s a way to connect with them from afar and keep them close in my heart.

I’ve come to realize that I have many favorites and can’t choose just one. However, one cup that always brings me joy is my simple brown Lake Placid cup. It’s not just my love for Lake Placid that makes it special; it’s the connection to my grandparents, Kay and Mun Nicosia. If you were lucky enough to know them, you’ll remember the brown coffee cups they kept in their cupboard. When I need encouragement or a warm hug, I reach for this cup and think of my wonderful childhood and the loved ones who are no longer with us.

Lastly, I believe it’s essential to have that solid white cup—the dependable, classic coffee cup. It’s the one you grab without a second thought. When I scan my cupboard and see that white coffee cup, I reach for it, hoping for a clean slate, a day of purity, and reconnection. This simple cup sparks my motivation and clears my mind as I yearn for a day filled with new opportunities and personal growth.

So, I challenge you: the next time you grab your cup, consider what kind of day you want to connect with. Does your first cup of coffee align with the day you hope to create? We hope it does, and we wish for you to find serenity in all of life’s moments.

Cheers,
Michelle
